When I dance I am enough
When I sing and dance with my community I feel great
I take the idea of performance out of expression so I may be free
I am part of the living tradition of raising my voice and moving my body with others
a remembered tradition is a living tradition
I connect & I am healthy
I am inspired & inspiring
the music is my dance partner
I am
The DANCE REVIVAL
I teach the pulse of the music, musicality, dancing DEEP with your stomach muscles, being grounded in the earth and downbeat, and full body musicality and movement-music connection.
The “Living Room” style and Wedding styles of dances have always been my favorites. While still enjoying great performances from some of the late and present great bellydancers, I find so much of my inspiration from the grannies, babies, uncles, and the ones you wouldn’t expect, dancing on the streets.

“American Music & Dance comes from all over, because when immigrants came, they brought their Music & Dance with them. Music changed after it got to America because people had a new way of looking at things. Songs & Dance became a way of communicating ideas. Certain things influenced new songs such as faith and religion and the American feelings about freedom.” - UNKNOWN SOURCE

I began bellydancing in 1997, studying primarily with Katarina Burda, and later most notably Jamila Salimpour, Henna, Sahra Kent, Reyhan Tuzsuz and Stefka Kamburova.
Some of my biggest inspirations on YouTube are Nabaweya Mustafa and Fifi Abdo. Through these amazing teachers, I have been able to sculpt my understanding of the variety of “bellydances” throughout Africa, the Middle East, the Balkans and the Roma.
2004 began my 10 year journey of living and studying on and off in Istanbul, Turkey where I studied Turkish Roman Dance primarily with Reyhan. I was her 2nd student, and since then she has expanded into being an International teacher and performer of her style!
As the years progressed I met more people and danced and studied with many more dancers: professionals as well as women in the kitchen. I was blessed to train and perform with Anadolu Atesi, Bazooki Orhan and the late and great Selim Sesler to name a few.

Jessaiah Zure comes from the beautiful traditions that the unique Bay Area offers with its strong community of musicians and dancers who study, perform, educate and keep alive the diverse cultures from around the world. She focused on the Middle Eastern, Balkan, Roma, and North African regions.
With the encouragement and inspiration from her teachers and peers to “go to the source” she quickly found herself in Istanbul where the Turkish Roman music and dance flourishes.
Her heart beat to that 9/8 rhythm and this was soon recognized by the locals as this led her to be a featured dancer at weddings, clubs, theaters and movies! She went on to be a well known Roman dancer, and is said to “dance like the Roma”. Jessaiah continues to gain respect for this form Internationally by the Roma community, dancers and academics alike.
She ALWAYS continues to seek out the experiences to learn and understand these cultures music, dance and customs - always looking to the source with reverence and awe.
This specific dance form has brought her to many great travel and teaching opportunities and as a result she has developed The Rhythm & Belly Revival.
The R&B Revival is a product of being raised in a culture where many of us choose to seek through OTHERS creative traditions, in order to find community, ways to celebrate with others, and enjoy our bodies and voices. Through understanding the rhythm and pulse of the music, and having the confidence in your body and mental clarity and ease - this is what the The Rhythm & Belly Revival’s testimony IS.
