This list will grow, but let’s start with a few.
Dr Milton Erikson is considered by many to be the Grandfather of Hypnosis. His methodology coined Eriksonian Hypnosis is fascinating to read about, his life story, work, and even to watch old clips of the WAY he worked.
Conversational Hypnosis is one that I am quite fascinated with and have great results with both as a practitioner and a client. Here is a well articulated article about it..
Interestingly we can get through to the Sub-Conscious mind in many ways through Indirect or Direct Hypnosis.
Self Hypnosis is an invaluable tool too that a good hypnotist will gift you as a way to keep doing this work yourself. You can find many Guided Meditations online that can start to prime your mind and awareness around language, thought patterns, and even go to sleep to them so your sub-conscious mind can drink it up while your body and conscious mind rest.
Sometimes people just need time to RELAX their bodies, and there are incredible sessions that just foucs on that. Giving you an EXPERIENCE of Deep relaxation. Sometimes it’s a Relaxation and Awareness of the Body relaxing, or a Journey to a Special place in your Mind.
Here is a very interesting article published in the National Library of Medicine on Regression & Past Lives Therapy Work.
Meeting your Inner Child - this has been one of the most enriching and amazing forms of Sub-Conscious experiencing I have done so far as a Human. We CAME from our Childhood. We are living ADULTS acting from our Childhood Experiences! Just because our bodies have aged to adulthood doesn’t necessarily mean that our emotions have matured with us - with Inner Child work, I learned that Time doesn’t have to be experienced as linear. By the Grace of the Universe and Human Awareness we can go back to memories and find our younger selves. We can speak with them, give them the Love they were missing, or Listen to them.. and these experiences CHANGE us. They changed ME.. and they have changed many of my clients.
In fact, I think I will need to write a blog just about that soon.
Here is an article that describes more in depth about the connection between inner child healing, anxiety, trauma and hypnosis.
For now let’s end with an excerpt defining the unconscious mind, and a bit more on Eriksonian’s work. We are all a Gift on this Earth, in this Life, even with some of our DEEP impairments sometimes physical, mental or emotional - we are a Gift. Look at Stephen Hawking and Dr Milton Eriksonian as examples. More often than not, through these tragedies, illnesses, pains, obstacles - comes our learning and sharing of New Visions and Ideas.
Pain is so often our teacher… why IS THAT?
The Unconscious Mind

excerpt: “Braid defined hypnotism as a state of extreme focus. However, Erickson knew from experience that patients in physical or mental pain are unlikely to be able to focus at all. Thus, rapid hypnotic inductions are likely to be met with resistance and ultimately fail.
Erickson believed that trances happen every day to varying degrees – for example the mind wanders during a commute to work, during meetings, and day dreaming in general. Athletes even enter a trance sometimes referred to as “flow” or “runner’s high”.
Even if the subject is not in a deep trance, Erickson thought the unconscious mind could still be listening. He could make an indirect suggestion that, whether the patient realized it or not, would result in therapeutic change in the patient.
A frequent jokester, Erickson was able to use humor in his conversations with patients as well. In fact his books are scattered with puns and subtle jokes. But this was not just to lighten the situation of patient affected by serious addiction and mental condition– it was deeply strategic.
By catching them off guard he was able to open the unconscious mind for change. This ties into his confusion technique.”
Wouldn’t YOU like to catch YOUR unconscious mind off guard to change the mind, so YOU can live your MORE gifted and ease-ful Life?
